Callahan near Etna California
When I was young, I remember my mom buying cowboy boots across the street from Callahan’s; going to the Rodeo, was a ‘big deal’ in Scott Valley. Those boots were so special to her; she had those boots her whole life! The picture below of the two room school house is where I went to school in Quartz Valley. Fond memories….
thinking of Sie the old man who everyday sat on the main street corner waving at everyone who went by, everybody was so friendly, those were the days!
Etna California,
I Love this Video, everybody is from somewhere…. glad I’m from “Small Town USA”.

Awesome post! I grew up in small towns, too, and the feel was totally different back then. Potluck dinners after church, ice skating ponds, not rinks, french fries and cokes at the local cafe, root beer floats, and yes, a rodio every year, even if the town wasn’t very big!! Thank you for bringing back the memories!!

Great viewing: I lived in the Farrington Hotel when I was pre-school thru the 2nd grade in the old Callahan One room school house. Many experiences in the Old Stage Stop Hotel.
Thanks, for the remembrances.

Loved seeing the pictures of Quartz Valley Elementary. I went there for 3rd – 6th grades… left before the “big” expansion was added! Such great memories!
